Kate & Ellen’s Buds – Issue 141

“I am committed to getting the big money out of politics” – Gov. Kate Brown, then candidate for secretary of state, Sept., 2012.

Guv Kate seems not so committed to getting any money out of politics – even if it comes from evil Big Pharma…

“Pharmaceutical companies, Eli Lilly & Co. ($11,000) and Pfizer ($15,000) gave a total of $26,000 to Brown.”

We wonder: Has Big Pharma developed a drug to combat moral inconsistency?

Kate & Ellen’s Buds – Issue 139

Wednesday, April 19, 2017

Guv Kate and AG Ellen Rosenblum lined their campaign coffers with contributions from entities doing business with our Beaver State. Here we reveal one of them. But first Guv Kate’s forgotten vow:

“I am committed to getting the big money out of politics” – Gov. Kate Brown, then candidate for secretary of state, Sept., 2012.

Markowitz Herbold PC tossed $25,084 to Kate’s & Ellen’s campaigns. They also bagged $13 million in new and amended state contracts from 2013 to 2015. Like you, we know it’s all pure coincidence. It is, isn’t it?

“I am committed to getting the big money out of politics” – Gov. Kate Brown, then candidate for secretary of state, Sept., 2012.

Sadly, Kate’s vow went the way of the brontosaurus, dodo bird and carrier pigeon. Since 2012 41 law firms doing business with the State of Oregon to the tune of $50 million over their contracts’ lifetimes tossed $89,958 at Kate’s campaigns and $196,093 Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum’s, making them not only “buds” but BFFs.

Oh, well, Kate never said she wanted big money out of politics right now.

Oregon is home to Native American groups who hold state contracts worth $36.7 million in lifetime value. These groups are also significant political donors with campaign donations of $140,000 since 2012. Brown received $123,000 while Rosenblum bagged $17,000.
